Tracing paper works well for “marking” a quilting design.
Trace your quilting design onto tracing paper using a fine tip marker (do not use pencil as the pencil lead can sometimes transfer to the thread when quilting). Make a stack of tracing paper sheets that equals the number of blocks you need. It is easy to hold the pages together by putting a few straight pins through the paper.
Unthread your sewing machine needle, put a large bore needle (ie size 16) in the machine and “sew” along marked line through all the paper layers. When you are ready to sew make sure to change the needle back to the appropriate size. Attach the paper to the quilt by placing straight pins through the quilt sandwich.
Quilt through the paper along the perforated lines. Remove the paper after quilting (it will rip along the perforation).
